You have no friends, no help, and no real method of expanding that doesn't involve setting off the Second Indo-Hellenic War way too early. They also have a tough as hell campaign start - a small group of Indian cities, essentially cut off from the rest of the Mauryan Empire, and surrounded by Selucid Satrapies and the Bactrians. Warrior guildsmen get bonuses against cavalry, so I didn't have much trouble in that regard, but the javelin-heavy armies of the Romans and the Persian bows were troublesome for my 'phants. Depending on the enemy I would hit with the elephants first and follow up with my infantry or let the footmen get stuck in and use the elephants as a very slow hammer to that very sharp anvil. Six Kshatriya swordsmen, four warrior guildsmen, five archers, two elephants, and two cavalry, with the general as a chariot unit for flavor was how I ran them. They also are supposed to use a lot of chariots, but chariots are kinda bad in DEI so I can't bring myself to use a slot for any. You tend to take lots of casualties, though. Combine that with their huge elephant units and you have a faction all about trampling the enemy before they can react, which is a lovely change of pace from DEI's usual slow battle pace. They have some of the best shock infantry in the game, including the awesome Warrior Guild Swordsmen, who go into battle carrying enormous swords and wearing 'wings' made of branches, and also some of the best archers in their longbowmen. The Mauryans play almost completely different from other factions in Rome II, especially for their region while most factions are all about defense, the Mauryans are all about aggression. I figured it might be fun to try them out and see what they had - but they turned out to be some of the most fun I've had with Total War for a long while. Taksashila was the first campaign of DEI 1.2 I ever played, after noticing that they'd added an Indian faction to the game. There's also one I intend to play, but haven't yet. There are several factions I've played and adored in DEI, so I'll give a rundown of them each. What are your favorite Factions? Any tipps for a faction that you had an epic playthrough with? But the best thing for Multiplayer is still Hannibal at teh GAtes against a friend (i mostly play carthage becasue I am a Hannibal fanboy) but than the helveti and boi backstaped me and the campaign got crazy) I also Love Baktria for their really nice position on the border of the map and their interresting unit roster and Pontus for being somewhere in between east and west. So i had to fight some awesome battles till I got into rome and freeed it. My fav factions so far are Epirus (Just for the challenge and the interresting way the world goes if there is no Rome), Massilia for their easy way to get friends all around the world and expanding into 3 different directions (I play them atm and I first got into Iberia down till I bordered Carthage, I allied or vassaled all of Gaul and than I got into fight with rome because I captured part of north italy and they attacked my ally athen. I still struggeling in most of the campaigns on hard or very hard though. I really love the DeI mod and I think it makes Rome 2 the best playing experience atm besides FoS out of all total war Titels. Think we missed one?
